MAHARSHI VALMIKI CHATRAVASA

Shree Sadashiva Campus is one of the 12 glorious campuses of Central Sanskrit University performing a leading role in the field of Sanskrit Education & has been successfully climbing up on the ladder of progress. Boys Hostel facility is available in this campus for regular students. It is named as Maharshi Valmiki Chatravasa. It is situated at Mauza-Balukhanda, Shrivihar road, Puri which is about 3.5kmsaway from the main campus. The 10.5 Acr land for the campus is donated by Govt. of Odisha.

The foundation stone for the hostel was laid in 2012 by the then Honourable Vice-chancellor Prof. RadhavallbhaTripathy& the then Principal Prof. AtulKumar Nanda. The building cost of Rs.5.8crore has been wholly funded by Govt. of India through Sansthan. It was constructed by C.P.W.D. The hostel was inaugurated by the then present Honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. P. N. Shastryin March 2016.

The three storeid hostel building has the following room facilities -

The primary objective of the hostel isto provide comfortable accommodation to the students of Sansthan. The main objectives are -

  • To provide a holistic environment of brotherhood among students.
  • To provide opportunity to learn Sanskrit traditionally by economically, socially backward students includingS.C., S.T. and O.B.C. students.
  • To highlight the traditional Sanskrit learning system.
  • To attract the students to learn Sanskrit from other states.
  • To enhance proper study atmosphere.

The admission into hostel is purely on merit cum distance basis. The applicant seeking admission into hostel should submit following documents along with application form.

  • Admission receipt
  • Mark sheet of the last qualified examination.
  • Address proof of self or parent (Voter ID card or Aadhar card)

After scrutiny of the documents, the hostel committee will prepare the merit list and display on the notice board of Campus. The student has to pay required fee as decided by competent authority from time to time.

In case, a candidate leaves the hostel in the middle of his study or after completing study the caution money deposited by him shall be refundable to him by cash.

a) Attendance and Leave

There is an Entry register in the hostel.  When students go outside, they should enter the date, time, purpose with their Name and signature. Every student must be in hostel before 7 P.M. If any Parent / Guadian / friend comes to meet the inmates they must fill the Entry register with the above details including whom they want to meet.

During vacation they can take leave from hostel by giving application to the Warden or Deputy Warden.

Apart from vacation if any student wants to go home, he has to submit leave application with forwarding signature of their concern Head of the Department / Class in charge.

b) Discipline

The conduct of the students should be in top priority. This adds to the reputation of the campus.

   1) They should not consume alcohol or use other forms of tobacco or intoxicating drugs.

   2) They should take part in the various academic activities being conducted in the campus.

   3) If any student damages any property of the hostel, the amount of damage shall be recovered from him and disciplinary action will be taken against him.

   4) All the students shall practice self-discipline & attend the classes regularly.

   5) Those who violate the discipline shall be duly punished. Those held guilty of serious violation may be punished with rustication by the recommendation of the hostel warden.

   6) It is expected that students shall maintain the dignity of the hostel with this in mind; they are exhorted to stay away from any such undesirable activities which may go against the rule of the hostel.

   7) The students of the hostel should not take part in politics.

   8) The warden of the hostel may punish the student who spreads or causes to spread violence, disturbs peace or tries to force his own ideas upon others.

   9) The decision of the Director shall be final.

   10) They must regularly attend the prayer in the morning and evening.

   11) No ladies will enter in the hostel campus.

   12) Personal cooking by students in their room is not permissible.

c) Anti-Ragging

The following acts will be considered as ragging -

  • Verbal, Written or Physical torture or misbehaviour with new or Junior students by seniors.
  • Any act which may adversely affect the mind or confidence of any new student or juniors.
  • To Subject any student to economic exploitation in any manner.
  • To ask the students to do unnatural works.

   On finding ragging in the hostel, warden can take action against the student involved in it.

a) Boarding facility

          Fooding facilities have been given on contract basis. The contractor provides 3 times food to the students such as Breakfast, lunch & dinner as per menu. Menu of mess changes according to the vegetables available seasonally in the market.  Only vegetarian food is allowed in the hostel.

b) Medical facility

          A doctor is appointed by campus for health check-up of the students regularly.  He visits the hostel once in a week &attends the students upon request by phone call.

c) Entertainment

          A Television with Tata Sky Dish connection is installed in the 2nd floor of the hostel.

d) News paper

          Two National daily news papers subscribed for hostel. They are –

  • Indian Express (English)
  • Samaj (Odia)

e) Sports & Games

          To ensure physical development of the inmates we have provided the Table tennis, Carroms, Chess, Volley ball andFoot ball equipments in the hostel. It enhances their sports spirit to participate in different competitions.

f) Creativity

          To encouragecreativity among the students, a display board kept infront of the officeroom. Students affix their articles,essays,poems, drawings, slokas, etc. on it.
