Every country develops its system of Education to express and promote its unique socio-cultural identity. Teacher plays a prominent role in the process of Education. It requires the knowledge of content, method, techniques and teaching aids to be used for making teaching interesting and effective. The selection of these methods, techniques and Audio-visual aids depends upon nature of task, learning objectives, learner abilities and student behavior.
The Department of Education is one of the prominent center of Teacher training that was established in 1979. The Department is giving training for Sanskrit scholars not only from Orissa but also from different States in India. The trained Sanskrit teachers from this campus are working in Orissa Govt. Schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, and other State govt. schools. The Shiksha-Acharya (M.Ed.) course has introduced in the campus from the academic year 2013-14.
In the process of Education, Teacher plays many roles such as Friend, Philosopher, Counselor, Guide, Motivator, Mentor, Experimenter, Evaluator, Researcher, Coordinator, Supervisor, Administrator and so on. As the technology is advancing day by day, the role of Teachers is becoming challenging in the Educational system. The quality of Sanskrit teachers largely depends not only on the mastery of the Subject, but also the transformation of curricular objectives into a reality. Not a single child in the classroom should be neglected in the present education. Hence, the Department of Siksha-shastra of Shri Sadashiva campus, Puri focuses on equipping Sanskrit teachers with Spoken Sanskrit skills, Teaching skills, Preparation and use of various Audio-visual aids, incorporation of ICT in the classroom, Education of disabled children and the use of smart class also.
