Department of Dharmashastra opened in Shree Sadashiva Kendriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth Puri in 1971. Before that when this Vedyapeeth was running in the one of Sadashiva Sanskrit Mohavidyalay that time also Department of Dharmashastra had been continued. Since that time this Department has been continuing. This Department was started for the first time at Shree Sadashiva Campus, Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan (Deemed University). Only and one Lecturer Pt. Kulamani Mishra was appointed for both Shastri & Acharya Classes, who was then awarded by Presidencial Awarded by the President of Govt of India. Then Dr. Vachaspati Sarma Tripathy joined as a Lecture. Then after some years getting Reader Post in Shree Sadashiva Sanskrit Viswavidyalaya, Puri. Har he life Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan. He also was awarded by the Presidencsial Award. In 1981 Dr. K. C. Mohapatra Joined as lecture in this Department of Dharmashastra. He also leaved this Department getting post of reader in SJSV, Puri in 1992. He also worked retired from the post of Professor there for SJSV, Puri.
From the Department Dharmashastra of this Campus, many Students have passed been jained as lecturers in different Colleges and Universities. In SJSV, Puri 1) Prof. K.C. Mohapatra, 2) Prof. B.K. In L.B.S Vidyapeeth 1) Prof. S.B. Panda in Tirupati Sanskrit Vidyapith 1) Dr. S.B Panda & S.B. Mohapatra in Jaipur Campus.
